How do GLP-1 medications work?

Curated by Oren Mechanic MD, MPH, eMed’s Chief Clinical Officer and Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

Manage your hunger
GLP-1 signals to your brain that you are full.

Regulate your blood sugar
GLP-1 prevents excess sugar turning into fat by storing it in the liver.

Stay full longer
GLP-1 keeps food in your stomach to satisfy your hunger.

Reduce fat storage
GLP-1 triggers insulin from the pancreas, briefly lowering blood sugar to reduce fat conversion.

Have questions?

Q. Why is an eMed weight loss guide™ necessary?

expand iconshrink icon

Medication adherence is almost as important as the medication itself.* Weight loss medication, in combination with one-on-one guidance, is the most effective option for long-term weight loss. Additionally, eMed weight loss guides™  offer non-clinical guidance, support, and instruction to help you follow your medical weight loss plan and adhere to manufacturer's safety guidelines. We act as an expert accountability partner in your journey.
