Frequently asked questions

What does the blood test cover?

Our blood test monitors key markers related to weight, metabolism, and overall well-being, including:
- Blood sugar levels (HbA1c)
- Cardiovascular health, including “good” (HDL) and “bad” (LDL) total cholesterol and triglycerides
- Liver health (gamma-glutamyl transferase)
- Kidney function (Creatinine)
- Inflammation linked to heart health (hs-CRP)
- Vitamin B12 levels, which support energy and nerve health.
These results give us a clear baseline and help us tailor your care as you go. For the vast majority of people (around 99%), at least one marker falls outside the optimal range, which helps us provide more personalized support early on.

Can anyone sign up for the eMed Program?

Participants must be 18 years or older, and a licensed clinician will make the final decision based on your unique health profile and lab results on whether you are eligible for the program.

How does the review process work?

Once we have received your medical history and lab report, a licensed clinician will carefully review your information to determine your eligibility for the eMed Program and confirm if you’re eligible for oral GLP-1 medication.

Will I receive an FDA-approved medication?

Yes, the eMed program only provides access to FDA-approved oral GLP-1 medication, specifically the Wegovy pill.

Who is prescribing my treatment?

eMed partners with a network of licensed clinicians who can prescribe medication, provide clinical consultation, and monitor patients in all 50 states. eMed is not a medical provider.

Can I submit my own lab report?

No. You must use the eMed GLP-1 Screening Kit™ to obtain your lab report. We do not currently accept existing lab reports from other providers.

How long does it take to get a response about my eligibility?

After your clinician reviews your lab results and health profile, we’ll update you on your eligibility within three business days. If a live visit with your doctor is required, your timeline will depend on your scheduled appointment.

What happens if I'm not approved for the eMed Program ?

If you're not eligible after your blood test, we’ll let you know the reasons. In some cases, we may simply require additional information before making a final decision. Eligibility can change over time depending on your health status, and you may be able to reapply later.

What medication is available?

After reviewing your eligibility criteria, if suitable, a clinician will prescribe the Oral GLP-1 medication, Wegovy.

What is the Wegovy Pill?

Wegovy Pill is an oral (tablet) form of Wegovy, a prescription medication used for chronic weight management in eligible adults. It is taken by mouth rather than injected and is prescribed and monitored by a licensed clinician.

How is the Wegovy Pill different from injectable Wegovy?

Both the Wegovy pill and injectable Wegovy are designed to support weight management, but they differ in how they are taken and used. The Wegovy pill is taken by mouth, while injectable Wegovy® is given as an injection using a prefilled pen. The Wegovy pill is taken daily, whereas injectable Wegovy is typically taken once weekly. The Wegovy pill is supplied for 30 days at a time, whereas injectable Wegovy is 28 days supply at a time.
Importantly the eMed Program will provide access and support for the oral form only. Injectable Wegovy® is not offered as part of eMed.

What dose of medication will I start on?

You’ll start on a low introductory dose of Wegovy pill. You’ll take one tablet of 1.5mg once a day for the first 30 days. This gentle starting dose is designed to help your body adjust comfortably to treatment.
During your first month our clinical team will carry out a review to understand how you’re responding through reviewing your weight loss and side effects and assess whether there is a requirement to increase your dose.

How/when will doses be increased?

Your treatment is reviewed monthly by our clinicians. If appropriate, your dose may be gradually increased over time to support effective weight loss while prioritizing tolerability and side-effect management.
Wegovy pills are available in a range of dose strengths (1.5mg, 4mg, 9mg and 25mg.). All doses are supplied as 30 tablets at a time.

If I’m taking Mounjaro® or Wegovy® injections, will I need to take a break before starting the pill?

You can begin the oral medication one week after your last injection, this will be confirmed by a clinician during your medical review.

How do you take the Wegovy pill?

It is recommended that you take the Wegovy pill when you wake up, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with a small sip of water (up to 4 ounces). You must then wait 30 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking other oral medications.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Wegovy pill?

If you miss a dose, skip that day’s dose and get back on track by taking the scheduled dose the next day.

Will I need a scale?

Yes, to join the eMed Program, you will need access to a scale. You will be asked to verify your weight during sign-up and to check your weight weekly. This helps us track your progress over time and ensure you receive appropriate support throughout the program.

Can I use my FSA or HSA for eMed’s GLP-1 Weight Management program?

You may try using your FSA or HSA card when paying for eMed’s GLP-1 Weight Management program, but acceptance is not guaranteed and depends on your individual plan. If your card isn’t accepted, you can still complete your purchase and request reimbursement from your FSA or HSA administrator. Many plans allow reimbursement for GLP-1 weight management–related services when supported by appropriate medical documentation.
Your benefits administrator may require an itemized receipt, a prescription, a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), or a combination of these documents. Requirements vary by plan. If you need documentation, our Service Center can help. Simply contact us, and we’ll provide the necessary itemized receipt, prescription, LMN, or combination thereof to support your reimbursement request.
Please note that reimbursement decisions are made by your FSA or HSA administrator, not eMed. We recommend checking with your plan provider if you have questions about eligibility. Our Service Center is always available to assist if you need help along the way.

How do I complete my at-home blood test and what should I expect?

You can complete your at-home blood test at a time that suits you. Blood collection is available 24/7. To get started, simply scan the QR code on the front of your blood test kit and follow the step-by-step instructions provided.
Once completed, your sample will be processed, and the results will be reviewed as part of your clinical assessment. You’ll be guided through each step to ensure the process is straightforward and convenient.
While our support team are not medical staff, they are trained to help you complete this important first step for your clinician and can connect you with additional support if needed at any point.
Your blood test is a crucial part of your care. It helps your clinician gain insight into your current health and allows us to monitor your progress and track changes in your biomarkers throughout your journey.

What diet and lifestyle changes will I have to make?

Some general diet and lifestyle changes that might be suggested include:

Balanced Diet:
Focusing on a diet rich in whole foods and low in refined sugars and processed foods is important for managing blood sugar and glucose fluctuations.

Food Color Counts: Fuel up and manage this disease with a variety of colorful, nutrient-dense foods. Enjoy a rainbow of fruits and veggies, including dark leafy greens, blueberries, oranges, and tomatoes, which are rich in vitamins, fiber, and minerals. Pair with whole grains and protein, like brown rice with salmon, for a nutritional boost!

Carbohydrate Awareness:
Being aware of carbohydrate intake can help to manage post-meal blood sugar spikes. This doesn't mean avoiding carbohydrates entirely but rather choosing complex carbs and being mindful of portion sizes.

Regular Physical Activity:
Exercise helps improve insulin sensitivity and can also contribute to weight loss. For overall health, adults need at least 150 minutes a week
of moderate-intensity aerobic activity. This could be brisk walking 22 minutes a day, 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, or what works for your schedule. Alternatively, you could do 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity each week, such as swimming laps. Or you could do an equivalent combination of moderate- and vigorous-intensity aerobic activity each week. Adults also need at least 2 days a week of muscle-strengthening activity. (CDC)

Limit Alcohol:
Some GLP-1 medications may increase the risk of pancreatitis. Alcohol is also a known risk factor for pancreatitis, so avoiding or limiting alcohol consumption can be a wise precaution.

Stay Hydrated:
Some GLP-1 medications can lead to dehydration, especially in the beginning. Drinking adequate water and monitoring for signs of dehydration can be important.

Limiting Fatty Foods:
Some people experience gastrointestinal side effects when they consume large amounts of fatty foods while on GLP-1 medications. It might be helpful to limit the intake of such foods.

The information available through this portal provides general information about potential lifestyle changes for participants taking GLP-1 medications and is based on input from affiliated licensed clinicians. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized guidance regarding your health.

What should I do if I experience side effects?

Most side effects are mild and temporary. As part of the eMed program, you’ll receive a side effect care kit containing carefully selected over-the-counter treatments to help manage the most common symptoms. We recommend logging any side effects in the eMed app, where you can track how you’re feeling over time. If you have concerns, you can escalate a side effect to a clinician directly through the app. Our clinical team is available to review your symptoms, provide guidance on managing them, and answer any questions you may have. If you’re unsure whether a side effect is serious, contact us through the app before making any changes to your medication. If you experience severe side effects, stop taking your medication and seek urgent medical attention immediately by visiting an emergency department or calling 911.

Refunds and Returns Policy

Refunds and Returns PolicyYour health and wellbeing is our top priority. To make sure every product meets strict regulatory standards, we can’t accept returns once a blood test kit or weight loss medication has been dispensed, even if they are unused or unopened.Once your biomarker test kit is shipped or you've completed your onboarding call, your blood test kit is non-refundable.

Why we can’t accept returns

Medical products can’t be resold
Once a prescription medication or medical kit has been dispensed, it can't be returned or reused due to safety regulations which prevent the resale of these products. These regulations are in place to protect patients and ensure products that are sold are safe and effective.

Storage, handling and hygiene standards
Because our products include medicines, medical devices, and sealed goods, they must be kept within strict temperature and handling limits, and meet the highest hygiene and safety standards. After delivery, we’re unable to confirm how or where an item has been stored, which means we can’t safely accept it back to be resold or reused.

Refunds
Because we can’t accept returns on our products, we’re also unable to offer refunds once an order has been dispensed.

What to do with unused medication

If your medication is no longer needed or has expired, please don’t throw it in the trash or flush it. In the U.S., many pharmacies, law enforcement agencies, and community take-back programs will accept unused medicines for safe disposal. Check with your local pharmacy or use a drug take-back locator to find a convenient option. If none is available, follow FDA guidance for safe home disposal.
